Description: Manufacturing boiler feed water from water taken from river instead of city water supply.

Customer needed to get off of city water used for boiler feed water and begin manufacturing boiler feed water from water taken from the Delaware River.

In conjunction with an engineering contractor, Equisol was contracted to provide controls and instrumentation to monitor and control water tank levels, chemical inventory and metering pump controls, filter valve controls, and reporting information and alarms to plant DCS.

End user wanted non-proprietary equipment to keep cost down and ensure quick delivery on replacement parts and service.

Equisol, using a combination of Aquatrac, Siemens, Walchem Iwaki, Snyder tanks and Sharp motor valves, was able to design and implement control system installed by Union labor to meet customer requirements.

The Aquatrac controller was used in a non-traditional manor. Specifically, there were no pH or conductivity controls. The Aquatrac was used to control valves to maintain tank levels in two feed water storage tanks, and the main clarifier tank. On low levels, the Aquatrac will open valves to tanks and filtering systems to maintain set control levels. Additionally, during refilling of tank, the Aquatrac controller will activate Ferric, Caustic and Hypochlorite feed pumps to maintain customer specified treatment levels.

This is another example of Equisol thinking outside the box. Equisol used OEM equipment traditionally used for cooling and boiler controller to replace a high end PLC while meeting customer requirements.
